Jackson, WY Climber Fell from Grand Teton Peak, Aug 1957
Young Climber Killed On Grand Teton Peak
JACKSON, Wyo. (UP)—The body of a 20 year old youth killed in a fall on 13,766 foot Grand Teton peak north of here Wednesday was recovered late Thursday night by a park service crew.
Ernest Field, chief ranger of Teton National Park, said it took the 15 man rescue crew 26 hours to bring down the body of J. S. Kuebler of Easton, Pa. Kuebler was the son of the vice president of he Dixie Cup Corporation.
Field said the youth died instantly of a skull fracture when he fell about 40 feet Wednesday morning while climbing the tallest peak in the area with two companions. He said they were within 300 feet from the summit when the accident occurred.
