A tornado which struck Oakdale to night levelled three houses here. So far as known no casualties resulted.

TORNADO SWEEPS TOWN

La Crosse, Wis July 5. -- Reports from the district of La Crosse, which was swept by a tornado, show at least two people to have been killed and one fatally injured at Oakdale, and that the damage was much greater than first reported. The dead are Mr. and Mrs. John Dame of Oakdale, Mrs. William Butterfield of the same place is fatally injured...

Oakdale, with a population of 500, was almost swept away, only one building, the station of the St. Paul railroad, being left standing. Every building in the village and for some distance north and south, was either torn down or damaged, and a number of person in addition to those mentioned are reported to be seriously injured.

At Oakdale, a small station in Monroe county, every building in the village of about 200 inhabitants was damaged or ruined. A. N. Maltby, the father of Mrs. J. N. Welsby of this city, is postmaster at that place, and while he escaped, his wife was quite seriously injured and Mrs. Welsby left for Oakdale Friday morning, to assist in caring for her mother.
