TRAIN HITS AUTOMOBILE.

Three Persons Have Close Call From Death in Accident.

Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 3.---A Wisconsin special from Eau Claire says: C. C. Carter and wife of this city and C. E. Kent, a resident of Rock Creek, Dunn county, in coming to Eau Claire in an automobile this morning, collided with a Milwaukee freight train on a grade crossing at Porterville. The automobile was smashed. Mrs. Carter jumped to safety and she escaped injury. Mr. Carter sustained serious injuries by being thrown against the train.
