Saxon (Wis.) Man Loses Arm and Leg When Dynamite Explodes in Stump.

(News Tribune Special.)

ASHLAND, Wis., May 8.----Alfred McDonald, a farmer, residing near Saxon, Wis., was fatally injured while engaged in blasting some stumps with dynamite. McDonald with a companion had placed some dynamite in a stump, lighted the fuse and stepped back to a safe distance. After waiting for some time they concluded that the fuse was defective and went forward to investigate. As they arrived at the stump the explosion occurred and McDonald lost an arm and a leg. Assistance was at once secured and started to town with McDonald for surgical attention, but he died en route. McDonald was about 40 years of age and leaves a family. His companion was not injured.
