Fond du Lac, WI Lake Winnebago Drowning, May 1899
SEES HIS COMPANIONS DROWN.
Prominent Young Business Men of Fond du Lac, Wis., Perish.
FON DU LAC [sic], Wis., May 31.---William Skinner and Arthur Pratt, influential young business men of this city, were drowned in Lake Winnebago yesterday afternoon. They were sailing in company with Delbert Brunet succeeded in righting the vessel and and climbing into it. The others clung to the side until chilled and exhausted and then sunk.
Brunet was so chilled that he could give no assistance whatever and was compelled to see them perish. He was picked up four hours afterwards by the crew of the steamer Okoboji, Captain C. V. McMillan. The bodies were not recovered.
Mr. Pratt was prominent in political circles and Skinner was a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen.
