Lanark, WI Powder Explosion, May 1907

Charley Hammond of Lanark was quite seriously injured Monday by the premature explosion of a blast of powder. Mr. Hammond was engaged in blasting rock for the foundation of a barn and while tamping in the charge the steel drill he was using produced a spark which ignited the blast. He was badly cut and bruised and one of his eyes was seriously injured. Present reports are that he will recover.
