Fond du Lac, WI House Fire, May 1898

BLAZE AT FOND DU LAC.
Residence of Charles E. Broughton is Gutted.
Fond du Lac, Wis., May 11.----[Special.]---The residence building on the corner of Marr and Sixth streets, belonging to L. F. Stowe and occupied by Charles E. Broughton, was destroyed by fire between 8:30 and 9:30 o'clock last night. The origin of the fire is not known. No one was at home at the time it started. Mrs. Broughton having gone to a neighbor's to spend the evening. When the fire department arrived the fire was well under way and over an hour's hard fighting was required before the flames were under control. The loss to both building and goods was fully covered by insurance.
