25 Are Killed, Scores Hurt in Cyclone That Sweeps Four Wisconsin Counties

MILWAUKEE, Wis., June 16. - Twenty-five killed, 50 to 100 injured and scores missing was the toll of a terrific cyclone which swept over four counties in the northwestern part of Wisconsin today.

Starting in St. Croix County, the cyclone cut a wide path north and east through Polk County, the into Barron County and Dunn County.

Communication with the district by wire is practically cut off, but meagre reports tell of much loss of life.

Eighteen persons are reported killed near Prairie Farm, a Barron County village.

Ole Saugstad, Mrs. Ole Lee and Paul Slaw were killed when the storm razed every building on the Saugstad farm, three miles north of Prairie Farm. A mile further north Mrs. J. W. Foster was instantly killed when her farm home was destroyed. Her husband was unhurt.

The village of Forest, St. Croix County, is reported wiped out and twenty persons injured, some of them seriously.

J. D. Reiss and Morris Schultze were killed when barns in which they had taken refuge were demolished.

More than a hundred farms were damaged in the storm and many buildings were wiped out by the cyclone, which picked up barns and houses along with smaller buildings.

Clear Lake, a village in Polk County, is reported hard hit by the storm, with the damage extending north and east from that place.
