BOONE MINER BLAST VICTIM.

BARRETT MAN DIES IN PIT ACCIDENT.

A Boone county miner died in a mine accident early Wednesday and two others were hurt in other accidents during the day.
HOWARD WILLIAM JARRELL, 29, of Barrett, died in a Koppers Coal Co. mine at Wharton. He was measuring a section of coal when a dynamite shot set off nearby caused his death, HUNTER and HUNTER mortuary attendants said. He was section foreman for the company.
At McMillan hospital ROY CARTEN, 29, of Blount, is recovering from shock and back injuries received in a slate fall in a Dixport mine at Blount. His condition is good.
In Bolarsky Memorial hospital ALFRED HODGES, 30, of Edwight, Raleigh county, was treated for a severe laceration of the left eye received in a Raleigh - Wyoming Coal Co. mine at Edwight.
Funeral services for JARRELL will be held Friday at 1 p. m. at the Kayford Pentecostal Church of God, with Rev. TOM BRADFORD officiating. Burial will be in Red Warrior cemetery on Cabin Creek, with HUNTER and HUNTER mortuary of Madison in charge.
Surviving are his widow, MRS. BESSIE JARRELL; a step-son, ALBERT COLEY, at home, and a step-daughter, MRS. BERNICE PUCKETT of Whatton; two sisters, MRS. MABEL HANNA of Highcoal and MRS. GLADYS BONGOLIS of Naomi; three brothers DELBERT JARRELL of Wharton and BOYD JARRELL and CALVIN JARRELL, both of Kayford; and his parents, MR. and MRS. ANTHONY JARRELL of Kayford.
