Logan County, WV Drownings, Mar 1890

WHEELING, W. Va., March 25.---A special to the Intelligencer says that while the Hon. Joseph S. Miller, late United States Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Mr. James A. Bing, a Logan County attorney, and the Rev. Mr. Medley, a Methodist preacher, were coming down Twelve Pole Creek, in Logan County, they attempted to ride the falls and the boat was capsized. Mr. Miller was taken from the water in an exhausted condition and is thought to be fatally injured. Mr. Bing was drowned. The party had been prospecting in the mountains for mineral lands.
