Logan Co, WV Twelve Pole Creek Boat Accident and Drowning, Mar 1890
ONE DROWNED.
Miller, Late Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Narrowly Escapes.
WHEELING, W. Va., March 25.---A special to the Intelligencer says that while Hon. Joseph S. Miller, late United States commissioner of internal revenue; James A. Bing, Logan county attorney, and Rev. Medley, a Methodist preacher, were coming down Twelve Pole creek in Logan county. They attempted to ride the falls and the boat was capsized. Miller was taken from the water in an exhausted condition and is now spitting blood and is thought to be fatally injured. Bing was drowned. The party had been prospecting in the mountains for mineral lands.
