Suffering at Parkersburg.

PARKERSBURG, W. Va., Mar. 15. – Thousands of people are homeless. Mayor Leonard to-day appointed a large number of special policemen. The count and city jails are under water and no arrests are made. A number of the residences in Beechwood and Riverside have been washed down the fast current of the Ohio River. The Little Kanawha River is falling.

Four persons were drowned late last night in an effort to escape from their tottering home at Riverside to a place of safety. William Francis, his wife, and daughter and son are the victims.

At Parkersburg.
Parkersburg, W. Va., March 18. – The bodies of JOHN FRANCIS, his son HENRY and daughter DELLA, who were drowned here Friday night while fleeing from their flooded home, were recovered. The river has fallen two feet here, but the flood situation is very little improved, there is much suffering, and the city is without streetcars, gas, electric or water.
