Spokane Suffers a Loss of $130,000
Sound City’s Retail District Is Nearly Wiped Out
Spokane, Wash., August 16 – Fire in the retail district today did damage amounting to $130,000.
The fire started in the smoke house of the Stanton Cold Storage company and before it was gotten under control had destroyed that building, the Washington Liquor company’s building and the store house of the Grote Rankin Furniture company. The principal losers are Grote Rankin company, furniture, $75,000; Washington Liqour [sic] company, building, $20,000; E. H. Stanton, stock and building, $20,000. All the losses are well insured.
