Virginia Home Burns; Six Die
FRIES, Va., Sept. 16 (AP).---Six persons lost their lives when fire destroyed the home of Mrs. Laura Church on Stevens Creek, three miles from here, Saturday night. The dead: Mrs. Laura Church and her three children, aged 9, 6, and 4; her mother. Mrs. Mattie Pugh, 16.
Mrs. Pugh and a son, Joe, 10, escaped from the burning dwelling, but the woman died a few minutes later from suffocation and burns. Her son was not injured.
The blaze is thought to have been caused by a defective kitchen flue.
