Frederick County, VA Storm, Mar 1907
Terrific Storm in Virginia.
Winchester, Va., Mar. 13.---Reports received to-day from various sections of Frederick County indicate that considerable damage was done by the severe electrical storm that swept over Winchester and this county at an early hour this morning. The storm was accompanied by a vivid display of lightning, terrific thunder, high wind, and a heavy downpour of rain.
Several farm houses and barns and numerous telephone poles were struck by lightning, and two telephone lines were put out of business temporarily Lemuel Clark, a farmer, was hurled from his bed by the lightning, which struck a telephone pole near his house.
At Baltimore and Ohio headquarters here it was stated that while the river was high there had been no damage below Cumberland, and the tracks were in no immediate danger of being flooded.
