Roanoke County home destroyed by fire, body found inside
The fire was discovered at a home on Magnolia Road, just off Plantation Road, around 2:15 a.m.
It took about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.
Investigators found a body inside the ruins of a Roanoke County home. A county Fire & Rescue spokesperson said the body has been taken to the medical examiner's office for identification. The person's identity has not been released. Investigators also found the remains of a dog inside the house.
Crews have been at the home on Magnolia Road since the fire was reported around 2:15 Tuesday morning. The have not determined the cause of the fire.
Fire officials now say a passing drive spotted the flames, called 9-1-1 and tried to get inside the house. The man tripped over something near the front door, twisted his knee and had to back out because of the thick smoke.

The home is considered a total loss. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
