South Boston, VA Private Plane Crash, Nov 1954

CRASH CLAIMS 4 NORTH CAROLINANS.

South Boston, Va. (UP) -- Civil aeronautics investigators tried today to determine the cause of a plane crash near here Saturday night which killed four North Carolinans, two of them children.
ZEB LITTLE of Lexington, N.C., the pilot, ARNOLD N. SLOAN of Winston Salem, N.C., and SLOAN'S two sons, ARNOLD, JR., 12, and JOHN, 9, were killed instantly when the single-engined private plane crashed and burned on the banks of the Dan River near New Ferry community.
Scene of the crash is in Southside Virginia between here and Danville, Va. The plane had left Charlottesville, Va., shortly after dark Saturday night and was on a return flight to North Carolina. The weather was rainy and the plane had been flying through low clouds. Investigators said they believed the pilot might have been off course.
LITTLE and the SLOANS had attended the University of Virginia - North Carolina football game at Charlottesville Saturday afternoon.
