DORSET WOMAN INJURED in CRASH

State police today reported $900 damage to a 1957 Volkswagen bus and injury to its operator in a 3:30 p.m. accident yesterday in Dorset on the cut-off connecting U. S. 7 and Vermont 30.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Mary C. Holden, 33. of East Dorset who reportedly suffered bruises to both knees, chest and forehead when the vehicle went out of control while descending a steep, snow-covered hill and went into a ditch. She was treated at the office of Dr. William G. Loomis, Manchester physician, and released.

A side-swiping accident at 5:20 p.m. yesterday in Searsburg on Vermont 9 also was reported by police. They said a 1960 Chevrolet station wagon, operated by William T. Shutt, 36, of Chelmsford, Mass., slid to the left side of the highway while westbound, striking a 1962 Ford station wagon operated by Henry A. Silver, 59, of Keene, N. H. The skid occurred when the Shutt vehicle slowed behind a pickup truck, police said.

Damages were estimated at $400 to the Silver vehicle and $300 to the Shutt station wagon.

Manchester police today reported moderate damage to a 1956 Buick operated by Frederick T. Frelinghuyser, 75, of Manchester and a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair operated by James R. Elrick, 25 year old state trooper, off duty at the time of the accident, in an accident yesterday in Manchester.

Time of the accident, which occurred on U. S. 7 in Manchester, was set at 1:25 p.m.

Minor Damage In Collision

Bennington Village police today reported minor damage in a 3:30 p.m. accident yesterday at the intersection of Gage and Safford Streets.

A 1957 Ford operated by Lillian Muckle of 11 Beach Court was northbound on Safford Street, police said, stopped for a stop sign and when proceeding through the intersection, struck a 1947 Chevrolet operated by David C. Quackenbush of Burgess Road. The Quackenbush vehicle was eastbound on Gage when the collision occurred, police said.

Damaged was the left front fender of the Muckle car and the right back fender of the Quackenbush vehicle.
