COLLISION IN VERMONT.

MONTPELIER, Vt., Feb. 18.---The passenger train due at Montpelier shortly after 10 P. M. ran into a freight train near the gravel pit about three miles this side of Northfield. Baggagemaster C. H. Moody, of St. Albans, is slightly injured. The engine and two or three freight cars were wrecked and several hogs in one car were killed. The engineer and fireman on both trains jumped. The accident was caused by the engineer of the freight train supposing the mail had passed the junction when instead it was a special train.
