Fairlee Mountain, VT Train Wreck, Apr 1884

BRADFORD, Vt., April 17.---The 2 A.M. train from Springfield was completely wrecked at Fairlee Mountain, the heavy rains having washed a large stone directly across the track. The engineer and fireman were badly bruised, but no passenger was seriously injured.

A Wrecked Train.

BRADFORD, Vt., April 17.---The 2 a.m. train from Springfield was completely wrecked at Fairlee mountain by heavy rains washing a large stone directly across the track. The engine is a complete wreck. Both engineer and fireman were badly bruised, but none of the twenty passengers sustained serious injury.
