JAMES VAN WAGONER HURT.

New York Man Injured In Auto Accident in Vermont.

MONTPELIER, Vt., Aug. 29---An automobile belonging to Mrs. W. G. Ross of Montpelier plunged down an embankment and overturned near here to-day, causing the death of the chauffeur, Oliver Gendreau, and serious injury to Mrs. Ross and James Van Wagoner of New York. Mrs. Van Wagoner and Miss Alice Ross, the other occupants of the car, were only slightly hurt.

The party was bound from Bretton Woods, N. H., to Burlington on the way to Montreal. In its fall the automobile turned over twice and pinned the chauffeur under the wreckage.

Mrs. Ross and Mr. Van Wagoner were brought to a hospital here. Mrs. Ross has a broken leg, and Mr. Van Wagoner is injured internally.
