Big Rock Crushes Out Miner’s Life

Thomas Bryan Is Instantly Killed While at Work in the Lower Mammoth Mine.

Thomas Bryan, a miner working in the Lower Mammoth mine at Mammoth, Utah, was instantly killed yesterday by having a large piece of ore toll on him, after he had undermined it.

A large obstructing rock, weighing close to a ton, had been loosened from all sides, when it toppled over and pinned Bryan beneath it.

An inquest was held over the remains, and the jury found that no blame could be placed upon the mining company.

The deceased had been a resident of Mammoth for the past fifteen years. He was 55 years of age and leaves a wife and eight children. The remains are being held until relatives living outside of the state have been heard from.
