Clarksville, TX light and power plant fire, Sept 1910

CLARKSVILLE ICE, LIGHT AND POWER LANT [sic] BURNS
LOSS APPROXIMATELY $40,000, WITH $25,000 INSURANCE
City Left Temporarily Without Lights, Ice or Motor Power - Originated in Condenser.
SPECIAL TO THE NEWS.
Clarksville, Tex., Sept. 26 - At 2 o'clock today fire destroyed the Clarksville light and power plant, also the gin and ice plant, operated by the same company. The fire originated in the condenser and spread rapidly. To add to the danger of the situation, the fire company was in a distant part of the city at a fire at the residence of W. M. Coffey and could not get to the greater fire till the plant was practically burned.
The loss was approximately $40,000 with $25,000 insurance and falls heavily not on th owners only, but on the whole town, as well as it leaves it without light, ice or motor power. The property destroyed belonged to a stock company with John W. O'Neil as manager.
