MANY DEAD AND INJURED.

DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO SWEEPS OVER MONTAGUE COUNTY, IN NORTHERN TEXAS.

Fort Worth, Tex., July 7. -- The latest reports from Montague county, which was partially swept by a tornado, give the number of dead as thirty-five. The tornado started four miles west of Nocona and moved in a sourtheasterly direction through a thickly settled farming community. The distance traversed was about fifteen miles. The only town directly in the path of the storm was Montague.
Among the buildings destroyed in Montague was the Methodist, Catholic and Christian churches and the court house. No one was killed or injured in Montague so far as known. Heavy rain and hail accompanied the storm.
The list of injured is being largely augmented by later reports. The property loss is estimated at more than $100,000.

MRS. C. C. SHACKLEFORD.
MISS TINNIE SHACKLEFORD.

Three Children of MRS. TUMLESON.
MRS. MARY LESTER.
