Iowa Park, TX Boiler Explosion, May 1923

OIL WORKER KILLED
ANOTHER IS INJURED
SOUTH OF IOWA PARK
IOWA PARK, TEXAS, May 15.-- Glenn Postaway, rig fireman, was instantly killed and Roy Wesson, driller, received injuries which will probably result fatally, in the explosion of a rig boiler in the K. M. A. field at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Wesson is in a hospital here. He was hurled 140 feet by the explosion and practically all his clothing was stripped from his body. His home is at Bowie, where he has a family. Nothing is known here of Postaway's relatives.
Dave Smith, a worker on the rig was asleep within a few feet of the boiler when the explosion occurred but escaped practically unhurt. The boiler was hurled about 120 feet by the explosion.
The accident occurred on the rig of Sid Movery, [?] on the Roy I. Carter well No. 1 Kemp and Kemper, block [illegible] on the J. M. Tigerl [?] survey, a mile and a half east of the Kemp-Munger-Allen field.
The explosion is said to have resulted from pumping cold water into the empty boiler.
