DEATH UNDER WHEEL

Young Man Hauling Logs Has His Neck Broken.

Special to The News.

Bastrop, Tex., Aug. 26.---News reached here today that the dead body of Howell Byrum, a young man about 19 years old, who had been hauling logs for the McPhaul sawmill, eight miles east of Bastrop, was found lying under the wheels of his wagon near a large pine tree. He had just unloaded some logs and on returning the wagon came uncoupled, throwing him under the front wheels where he became entangled in a chain, dragging him a considerable distance. He was thrown against the tree, crushing his skull, his neck being broken by the wheel passing over it.
