Dallas, TX Commerce Street Fire, Nov 1912

Damage to Goods $1,000.

Special to The News.

Fort Worth, Tex., Nov. 1.---The fire at 1209 Commerce street last night did damage to the stock of fine chinaware estimated at $1,000 and to the building an estimated damage of about $300. The prompt discovery of the flames and the active work of the department prevented their spread. The entire stock in the building was valued at $45,000. The goods belong to J. A. Campbell of Mineral Wells, who had planned to open a store here at an early date. The room used for the storage of the goods had at one time been used as an auto garage and the floor was soaked with oil and grease, which added to the difficulty of fighting the fire.
