Torpedo Exploding Drives Tin Into Switchman's Foot.
E. Whitley, a Texas & Pacific switchman, is in a company hospital at Marshall, Texas, with a painful wound in his right foot received when a piece of the tin covering of an exploding torpedo penetrated his shoe Nov. 9.
The wheels of the switch engine, passing over the torpedo, caused its discharge. Whitely was standing on the front running board and the tin which struck his shoe was blown through a narrow crack in the board.
