$50,000 ROUNDHOUSE FIRE AT SAN ANGELO

SANTA FE BUILDING AND TWO ENGINES DESTROYED.

Structure Was of Wood and No Insurance Was Carried by Railroad Company.

San Angelo, Tex., Oct. 16. - An early morning blaze here completely destroyed the Santa Fe roundhouse and two large freight engines. The total loss is close to $50,000, with no insurance on the building. The structure was of wood and was constructed more than fifteen years ago. It has caught on fire a number of times before.

Four engines were taken from the burning building through the heroic efforts of R. J. Miller, the roundhouse foreman.

It is probable that the Santa Fe will at once start the construction of a modern brick roundhouse having at least eight stalls. The one destroyed contained but four. The origin of the fire is unknown.
