ONCE AGAIN TOWN IS HIT BY TORNADO

One Killed, Many Fatally Hurt at Mount Pleasant, Texas

HOUSES ENTIRELY RUINED BY STORM

Terrific “Norther” Strikes Outskirts of Little Texas Village, but Shifts its Direction, Preventing Another Snyder Horror – Swath Half a Mile Wide is Cut by Irresistable (sic) Wind – Every Doctor Pressed Into Service.

FORT WORTH, Tex., May 13. – A special to The Record from Mount Pleasant, Tex., says:
T. (sic) terrific tornado passed two and a half miles southeast of here this afternoon. One person was killed and many were injured.

The tornado first struck the earth at a point southwest of the city and for a few moments it appeared as if the town would be destroyed. But the twisting funnel turned in an almost easterly direction and after proceeding a mile went northeast. The path of the tornado was half a mile wide and the country for three miles was cleared of every residence, barn and fence.

The dead: MRS. GERALD.
Injured: Adkins, Mrs., seriously. Bell, Miss Sallie, seriously. Two sons of Mrs. Gerald, fatally injured. Hefner, Will, left leg broken. Harris, Sam, and several members of the family, Justiss, W. H., and three members of the family. Jones, Mrs. J. R., seriously hurt about the head. McDowell, Mrs. A. T., perhaps fatally injured. Suggs, L. J., skull fractured, not expected to live. Tabb, Mrs. Luther, badly injured, not expected to live.
Houses that were occupied by the persons injured were entirely destroyed.

Tonight every doctor who resides in Mount Pleasant is engaged in caring for the wounded, and clothing and food has been supplied in large quantities by citizens.

Fatally injured – Two sons of Mrs. Gerald, Mrs. A. T. McDowell, J. T. Suggs, Luther Tabb.
Houses that were occupied by the persons injured were entirely destroyed. Tonight every doctor who resides in Mount Pleasant is engaged in helping the wounded.
