Wichita Falls, TX Auto Accident, Jul 1915
ONE KILLED, 4 HURT, WHEN AUTO UPSETS
CAR CARRYING FIVE MEN LEAVES ROAD, TURNING OVER INTO DITCH.
Special to The News.
Wichita Falls, Texas, July 27.---One man was killed and four were injured, three seriously, when an automobile overturned just north of this city late today.
The dead:
MARTIN McKISSIK of Randlett, Ok.
The injured:
Lonnie Griffin, Harry Griffin, T. W. Capps and R. J. Miller.
Miller's injuries are comparatively slight. Those of the others were known to be serious, but early tonight physicians had not determined the extent of their injuries. Capps is said to be the most seriously hurt.
The five men, all from Randlett, were going down the road at a brisk rate after a visit here, when members of a thrashing crew heard a crash and saw the car disappear. They rushed to the scene to find that the car had plunged into the deep ditch by the side of the road and had overturned, pinning four of the occupants beneath. McKissik was instantly killed. The others recovered consciousness, but none was able to tell how the accident occurred. They were brought to a hospital here.
None of the five are known in this city, but efforts are being made to get in touch with relatives at Randlett.
