Osage, TX Tornado, Apr 1919

FOUR KILLED AND SEVERAL INJURED NEAR OSAGE.

Mount Vernon, Texas, April 9.-The cyclone at 5 o'clock this morning, that is reported to have killed eight people at Newsome, seventeen miles southeast of this place, also did great damage in the Osage community, twelve miles east of here. J. J. BRANCH, his wife and two grown sons were killed outright and his two little sons and 6-year-old daughter were seriously injured when their home was destroyed. GEORGE REDFERN's home was wrecked and out of seven in the house, all escaped without injury except MRS. REDFERN, whose leg was broken. The home of MR. STEPHENS was also wrecked and out of the five persons in the house he was the only one hurt. His injuries are slight. The Osage Baptist Church and the old HUTCHINS homestead were destroyed.
