BLAZE AT CHILDRESS.
Childress, Childress Co., Tex., Jan. 2.--Fire broke out to-night in a butcher shop on Main street, from a defective stovepipe, and burned five buildings, all frame except an iron-clad livery stable belonging to Crews Bros. Ferguson, Tankersley & Co., groceries, stock $3000. part saved, insurance $1200: Alered & Co., general merchandise, stock $3000. total loss: William Whitehead, meat market $200. total loss: W. H. Grogan, City hotel, household goods partly saved.
Can't estimate loss on buildings. The stock and vehicles in the livery stable were all saved. No insurance on the block, except on the stock of Ferguson. Tankersley & Co.
