Pyote, TX Bomber Crash, June 1943

PYOTE BOMBER CRASH KILLS 8, INJURES ONE.
Pyote, June 7. -- (AP) -- Eight men were killed and another was seriously injured when a Flying Fortress crashed yesterday during an emergency landing, the public relations office at the Rattlesnake bomber base reported.
The plane was returning to the base after a routine local flight and was preparing to land when an engine caught fire, officers said.
The dead were:
Second Lieutenant JOSEPH C. FOLSON, JR., of Atlanta, Ga.
Second Lieutenant NORMAN P. BECK, co-pilot, Glendale, Pa.
Second Lieutenant EDWIN EVERETT CURRAN, bombardier, East Boston, Mass.
Sergeant ALPHONSE M. KEWDAR, gunner, Stoughton, Mass.
Sergeant DAVID LACHTER, radio operator-gunner, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Sergeant ROBERT LEE BEEN, assistant radio operator-gunner, Denver, Colo.
Sergeant ALLEN Y. MUMFORD, engineer-gunner, Jackson Center, Ohio.
Sergeant EDWARD W. TRAPP, assistant engineer-gunner, West Salem, Ohio.
Seriously injured was Sgt. KENNARD C. STEVENS, tail gunner, Stratton, Maine.
