Lightning Plays Havoc At Haskell Gymnasium

Haskell, RNS)-It was rather a rough night at the junior high school gym Thursday night as the Jaycees and employees of the Bill Wilson Motor Co. were playing volleyball.

Around 7:30 p.m. lightning struck the northwest corner of the gym and knocked a hole about two feet in diameter in the roof of the building.

The local insurance man said damage was estimated between $300 and $500.

But lightning wasn’t all that struck.

During the game Jerry Sorrells received a broken elbow and David Strickland, a badly sprained right ankle.

Frank Jenkins said “It (the lightning) scattered the ball players for a short while; but play soon resumed.
