RAILWAY COAL CHUTE BURNED.
Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars Loss from Flames at Mount Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant, Tex., Jan. 21.---The Cotton Belt coal chute here was destroyed by fire yesterday morning. The alarm was turned in about 3:45 o'clock and the fire had been burning some time before it was discovered. The chute, with four loaded cars and several tons of coal, burned fiercely before a line of hose was laid and a stream of water turned upon the burning heap. The flames were finally checked before the structure was completely destroyed, but it is almost a total loss, which will probably amount to $25,000. It is insured.
The flames would not allow passenger trains to pass on the main line and they are being detoured by the branch track. A large force of men is clearing away the debris and the chute will be rebuilt as quickly as possible.
On Oct. 27, 1908, the chute here burned and was rebuilt last spring.
