Rig Near Cross Plains Is Destroyed By Fire.

Special to The News.
Cross Plains, Texas, March 19.-Fire originating from a stove in the engine house Sunday morning destroyed the rig and left the tools in ruins at the Wright No. 1 well of F. W. Stone & Co., eight miles south of here. The well has made several flows and the flames leaped instantly over the oil-saturated belt house to the rig, which was enveloped in flames in less that two minutes after the fire was discovered.

The loss is estimated at $10,000, with no insurance.
