High Water At Brownwood

Bayou Overflowed, but the Damage Done Was not Great.

Fort Worth, Tex., Sept. 24 - Information received from Brownwood this afternoon through the Fort Worth and Rio Grande office was to the effect that the Pecan Bayou had overflowed and had backed up into the business part of the city and had done considerable damage. Mr. L. B. COMER, general freight and passenger agent of the Rio Grande, said that several hundred feet of the company's track this side of Brownwood was under water and washed away, but that all of the bridges of the company were intact. He said the overflow was regarded as the heaviest since 1873 and that the water was receding very slowly. He thought it probable, however, that the track could be repaired tomorrow and that trains would be running into Brownwood tomorrow night.
