Cross Plains, TN College Fire, May 1874

Fires.
CROSS PLAINS - LOSS $10,000.
NASHVILLE, TENN., May 20. - Neophagon College, situated at Cross Plains, Robertson County, Tenn., was totally destroyed by fire at 1 o'clock this morning. As there had been no fire about the building on the previous day it is supposed to be the work of an incendiary. Loss $10,000. It was with great difficulty that the young lady students could be induced to leave the burning building in their night clothing. Many of the male students rushed into their rooms and forced them out, thus saving their lives.
