Hartsville, TN courthouse and business district fire, May 1900
HARTSVILLE, TENN. ALSO SUFFERS $100,000 LOSS.
Courthouse and Records Go Up in Smoke.
Nashville, Tenn., May 5. - A special to the Banner from Hartsville, Tenn., stated that the entire business portion of the north side of that town was destroyed by fire last night, causing a loss estimated at $100,000. The origin is not known. The amount of insurance is not known.
All the business of Hartsville was confined to the burned district, including the Bank of Hartsville and the courthouse. All the records in the courthouse are reported destroyed.

Fire at Hartsville, Tenn.
Nashville, Tenn., May 5. - Fire at Hartsville, Tenn., last night destroyed the courthouse, the building occupied by the Bank of Hartsville, G. D. Byrne & Son's grocery store and the building occupied by W. J. Hale & Son, grocers. The contents of the bank were saved, also the stock of Hale & Son. The losses and insurance are not known.
