Nashville, TN Train Wreck, Mar 1890
THE CANNON BALL STOPPED
But Not Until Two Negroes Were Killed and Several Others Injured.
Nashville, Tenn., March 25. -- Lincks depot, on North College street, was the scene yesterday morning of a fatal railroad accident The northbound Cannon Ball, on the Louisville and Nashville road, due here at 10:25, ran into three box cars and a flat car, through a misplaced switch, driving cars across College street and into the waiting room of Lincks deport Alexander Stevenson and Benjamin Daley, both colored persons were injured.
The killed and injured were employed by C. S. Bush, transfer man, and were engaged in loading a boiler on flat cars. The eight cars did considerable damage to Linck's waiting room, which was filled with women and children waiting for the train. Fortunately not a person in the building was hurt, notwithstanding the floor of the room was covered with brick and plaster. The cannon ball train was not badly damaged.
