Smoky Mountains, TN Plane Crashes, Mar 1964
PLANE SEARCH PARTY AIDE DROPS DEAD.
Maryville, Tenn. (UPI) -- A ground party making its way through the rugged Smoky Mountains to the wreckage of a small light plane with six persons aboard was halted early today when a member of the search party dropped dead.
Chief Ranger TOM F. ELA of the U.S. Park Service identified the man as FRANK E. SHULTS of Townsend, Tenn., a park service employe.
The Eastern Air Rescue Service at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., said the twin-engined Beechcraft was carrying MR. and MRS. J. M. MILES; MR. and MRS. JOHN FELO, and two girls, ELIZABETH and MARY FABICK, 14 and 13, all of St. Louis.
A spokesman said the adults were flying the girls to meet their mother, MRS. FRANCES FABICK, in Miami, when the plane crashed Saturday.
