Camp Crook, SD Fire, May 1908
SOUTH DAKOTA TOWN DESTROYED BY FIRE
DEADWOOD, S. D., May 11.---Camp Crook, a town of 400 population on the little Missouri river, north of here, has ben[sic] destroyed by fire. Loss $200,000. The news had brought to this city by a courier from Belle Fourche. Camp Crook was a trading point for a large territory and the merchants carried large stocks. The principal losses were: R. L. Channing, dry goods, $80,000; Lake & Devine, general store, $50,000.
