Charleston, SC Steamship Nacoochee Fire, Nov 1884
A STEAMSHIP ON FIRE.
SAVANNAH, Ga., Nov. 11.---The steamship Nacoochee, bound from Savannah to New-York with passengers and miscellaneous cargo, was discovered on fire off Charleston last night. The hatches were closed and steam turned into the hold where the fire was supposed to be. The vessel put back to Savannah and the fire is not under control. Her passengers were transferred to the steamship Tallahassee and brought back to port. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
