Charleston, SC Grocery Store Fire, Dec 1852
Fire in Charleston.
BALTIMORE, Monday, Dec. 27.
A fire at Charleston, on Friday, destroyed the grocery establishment of Valentine Heidt. Loss, $15,000 on stock, and $6,000 on building. Several adjoining buildings were injured. During the fire, a ladder, on which some firemen were stationed, fell, and severely injured several---one of them, named ROBERT FORSYTH, so severely as to render his recovery improbable.
