Providence, RI area Lightning Strikes, Jul 1866
DAMAGES BY LIGHTNING.----The Providence Press says that the new stable of William G. Kenyon, occupied by John W. Taylor, at Wakefield, was struck by lightning Tuesday evening, set on fire and entirely consumed. Mr. Kenyon loses his stage, all but three horses, (which were driven out through the flames.) his grain, three or four tons of hay, and all the other property which he had there. His loss is estimated at $2,000, and he was not insured.
Mr. Kenyon's loss is also estimated at $2,000, and another gentleman lost $75 on property stored within.
The lightning also struck a hay stack on Tower Hill, owned by E. T. Oatley, and the hay was consumed.
We hear a report also that Mr. Weeden Braman's barn at Usquepaug, was set on fire by the same agency and consumed.
