Chapachet, RI Wool Mill Fire, Aug 1897

WOOLEN MILLS BURNED.

Providence, R.I., Aug. 21. -- A large woolen mill operated by HENRY C. WHITE & Son, at Chapachet, was destroyed by fire early Friday morning, together with several houses occupied by mill hands. The total loss is estimated at nearly $200,000. There is an insurance of $150,000.
About 1,000 hands were employed when the mill was running in full.
