PUNXY LOSS GREAT FROM WEEKS FLOOD AND CLOUDBURST

One Life Lost and Thousands in Damage to Property When Stream Leave Banks

Streets of Town are Submerged by Downpour to Depth of Several Feet and Mines Filled Until Work is Stopped for a Few Days.

The torrential rains which flooded Clearfield county the first of this week are reported to have done several thousand dollars worth of damage at Punxsutawney by flooding the streets to a depth of several feet, and filling the mines to such an extent that work had to be suspended.

One life is reported to have been lost. The five year old son of Peter Ropinski at Anita near Punxsutawney met death by drowning in Elk Run which swept the boy away before help could be called. The body was recovered.
