MINING TOWN FIRE-SWEPT.

BLAZE FROM ACETYLENE EXPLOSION CAUSES $75,000 LOSS AT BOSWELL.

Cumberland, Md., Oct. 29. -- Fire resulting from acetylene gas explosion, wiped out a portion of the business section of the mining town of Boswell, in the Meyersdale region, causing a loss of $75,000, with about one-third insurance.
The following houses' were totally destroyed:
The Merchants Hotel, owned by JUSTUS VOLK, loss, $30,000, insurance, $10,000.
W. H. GROSS, drug store.
COUPPY & STORM, livery stables.
ISAACSON & Bro., clothing store.
Hobart Station, residence.
F. C. ELDEN, barber shop.
The Eagles clubroom, above GROSS' drug store.
