Emeigh Run, PA Cherrytree Coal Co Fire, May 1909

Two Hundred Men Idle at the Emeigh Run Operations.

Nearly 200 men have been thrown out of work by a fire that Tuesday, May 11, destroyed the frame building housing the boilers and an air compressor of the Cherrytree Coal Company near Emeigh Run. The loss cannot be estimated until a thorough examination has been made of the boilers and the machinery, but it is believed that it will not be possible for the mines to resume within 10 days or two weeks. The origin of the fire is unknown.
